December Meetings & Happenings at Sherry's House

 

Circle of Healing/Mixture of Memories | Wednesday, December 10th - 6pm-9pm

This is a monthly peer support group for families who have lost a child to pediatric cancer.  Mixture of Memories is our sibling support group for children that meets during the Parents Meeting.  Dinner and Childcare provided.

Parent to Parent Holiday Gathering | Wednesday, December 17th - 6pm-8:30pm

This month we are holding our annual Holiday Gathering for Parent to Parent.  This gathering gives parents a chance to socialize with each other and celebrate the joy of the holidays. Come celebate the season with us.

Parents to Parents is our monthly support group for parents who have a child on active treatment or is a survivor.  Parents support each other by sharing their experiences.  The group is facilitated by Danielle Perron, our Director of Family Services. Any family with a child that has been treated for pediatric cancer is welcome to attend, regardless of the treating institution.

There will not be a Family Dinner in December

Why Me & Sherry's House - A History

Love & Support for Families with Childhood Cancer

The Why Me organization was conceived and created by 13-year-old Sherry Shepherd during her four year battle with cancer. She was the very first patient at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center when they first opened their pediatric oncology department. Sherry found many wonderful ways to lift the spirits of her fellow cancer patients as a means to ease their suffering. During her struggle with cancer, she became an inspiration to all who knew her, especially the other children being treated for cancer that she met. In the last months of her life, Sherry became determined to do something that would have a lasting value in the community to help children with cancer. With the help of her dad, she founded the non-profit organization WHY ME, which stands for Worcester Help for Youth, Memories Everlasting.  Read More
