Monthly Support Group Meetings


During the winter months of Cold and Flu season we must ask all Sherry's House visitors to stay home if anyone in your family has a sniffle, cough or has been exposed to someone who has been sick.  We thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

February Meetings & Happenings at Sherry's House

 

Family Dinner | Wednesday, February 18th - 6pm-8:30pm

Family Dinner is our monthly evening for parents to take a night off from cooking and socialize with other Why Me parents.  Children enjoy playtime with volunteers.  Just bring your family and appetite! 

 

Parent to Parent Support Group | Wednesday, February 25th - 6pm-8:30pm

Parents to Parents is our monthly support group for parents who have a child on active treatment or is a survivor.  Parents support each other by sharing their experiences.  The group is facilitated by Danielle Perron, our Director of Family Services. Any family with a child that has been treated for pediatric cancer is welcome to attend, regardless of the treating institution.

Why Me & Sherry's House - A History

Love & Support for Families with Childhood Cancer

The Why Me organization was conceived and created by 13-year-old Sherry Shepherd during her four year battle with cancer. She was the very first patient at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center when they first opened their pediatric oncology department. Sherry found many wonderful ways to lift the spirits of her fellow cancer patients as a means to ease their suffering. During her struggle with cancer, she became an inspiration to all who knew her, especially the other children being treated for cancer that she met. In the last months of her life, Sherry became determined to do something that would have a lasting value in the community to help children with cancer. With the help of her dad, she founded the non-profit organization WHY ME, which stands for Worcester Help for Youth, Memories Everlasting.  Read More
