Jason’s Healing Garden is named in memory of Jason White, who passed away in 1983 at the young age of seven from a rare form of Leukemia. Jason is the son of Margaret White, who devoted her life and heart to Why Me as the Director of Family Services until her passing in June 2012. The garden was developed by our friend, Warren Leach of Tranquil Lake Nursery. Working with Warren, area nurseries, Sansoucy Stone, The Wheeler Foundation and the Worcester Fire Department, the back property was transformed into a retreat that renews the soul. Visitors walk meandering paths through plantings that bloom from February to October and culminate in vibrant Fall color that is visually striking from the inside of the house. The garden is ideally suited to songbirds and butterflies. The peaceful setting is enhanced by the sounds of the waterfall off the rear deck and the brook. Jason’s Healing Garden is a place to be in the moment; peaceful and renewed.
